The room where it happened
The AFL-CIO created Union Plus to provide savings, discounts, grants + benefits that support union members. That was more than a start, it was a mission, and we haven't stopped since 'Go!' Keep scrolling!
Small team, big heart
In 1987, our longest-tenured (and possibly most hilarious) employee, Yvette Williams-Floyd, joined Union Plus.
Union Plus means a great deal to me. I began working here when I was 19. It’s where I’ve made life-long, true friends and where I’ve made friends with so many union contacts.

🎶 Roll with it 🎶
Steve Winwood had the right idea. In 1988 Union Plus Car Rental discounts rolled into town with a single car rental discount. Fast-forward to 2026, Union Plus now offers discounts of up to 35% off NINE international car rental companies. Beep, beep!

Ah, The 90s
A new law of the land
The Americans with Disabilities Act becomes law, ensuring access and opportunities in the workplace. Your union helped make this a reality.
Welcome to your new home
Union families start creating memories in homes of their own with Union Plus Mortgages — complete with exclusive protections like strike + furlough grants.
Putting higher education within reach
Union Plus Scholarships moves to the front of the class. To date, these scholarships total over $6.2 million, and have been granted to over 4,400 union families.
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
Focusing on families
The Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA) becomes law, guaranteeing workers unpaid leave as they care for a family member with health conditions.
Planning ahead
Union Plus begins offering life insurance as a way to help union families plan for the future.
NAFTA is signed
The North American Free Trade Agreement is created, expanding international labor coordination, while advocating for worker protections in global trade agreements.

Union Plus Flower discounts colorfully blooms onto the scene, offering big savings as union members start "saying it" — with flowers! Today, you can say it with flowers, gifts AND Belgian chocolate-covered treats!
Union Plus Flowers + Gifts has saved union members over $7 million since 1996. That's a lot of petals (and chocolate)!
Power to the Postal Workers
U.S. Post Office workers strike for an unprecedented 15 days. This watershed moment for the labor movement results in a 5-year contract instituting higher pay; pension security + 10,000 full-time positions, incorporating thousands of underpaid part-time employees! What a win!

Union Plus is proud to have provided nearly $13 million in grants to help union families experiencing hardship.

Fast food workers hit the streets and vote to strike for a livable-minimum wage. Dubbed the "Fight for $15," this strike will reshape how unions organize lower-wage workers. Power to the people!
A turn-key moment
Union Plus creates our $1,000 homebuyer grant for veterans. Thank you for your service.
To date, the Union Plus Homebuyer Grant for Veterans has distributed over $500,000. Huzzah!

Courage during COVID
COVID-19 forces the world to come to a grinding halt. Yet some went out into the world to help the rest of us.
We honor the sacrifice + courage of our first responders and our healthcare professionals.
We also thank workers whose industries are yet to unionize — such as food delivery workers + contract drivers who worked when we could not.
The Holiday Giveback
Union members gave so much of their themselves during the COVID-19 Pandemic. We decided to honor their service with a giant giveaway — totaling $102,000 to 102 union members.
Saluting Richard Trumka
AFL-CIO president and Union Plus board chair, Richard Trumka, lived a life steeped in public service. We truly mourned his sudden passing and continue to be inspired by his mission to empower America's workers. We hope he is proud of our work.
A new champion for the AFL-CIO
Liz Shuler, a true champion of the labor movement, is named president of the AFL-CIO and joins the Union Plus board as chair.
Unions Power America
The everyday heroics we saw during the Pandemic inspired the creation of "Unions Power America," a contest and sweepstakes intended to help change the lives of our union, 'Hometown Heroes.'
Unionizing on "Strong Island"
Heralding from Staten Island (“Strong Island”), the first Amazon warehouse in the U.S. unionizes. Cheers to organizer, Chris Smalls and the Amazon Labor Union!
